A Few Interesting Stats
My husband harasses me that I like to read statistics books. (Maybe I have an inner desire to be a statistician when I grow up. Nah. Not even.) This quirk started a couple of years ago and has expanded into reading economic books, biographies, and historical non-fiction. I still read an occasional suspense/thriller/intrigue book. Sometimes I’ve just gotta read something light . . .
The most interesting stats that I’ve recently read are the ones that my ISP provider collects about those who log on to my site. (For those of you who have lesser technological knowledge, ISP stands for ‘the-great-folks-who-host-my-website.’ There. Now you know.)
I’d like to share some of the statistics for you, Dear Reader, because they are all about you. Yes, you. Sharing not in a bragging sort of way but more as in I-thought-you’d-like-to-know kind of way.
So here they are. My site:
- averages19,000 hits a month
- averages 7,000 pages read a month
- averages 750 new, unique visitors a month
- is busiest at 9 a.m. and 9 p.m.
- Knitting a Post on My Blog is the post with the most hits (probably because of the great video included)
- My Scary Halloween Experience ranks 2nd place with the most hits (I think readers were expecting something other than what I really wrote about . . .)
- Firefox is the top browser of those reading my site
- the majority of readers are in the US (expected)
- Russia comes in 2nd place for the most readers (like . . . totally NOT expected!)
- other countries who visit a lot include Great Britain, Canada, China, and South Korea
- countries with less hits include Netherlands, Ukraine, Latvia, Singapore, Turkey, Romania, Czech Republic, Malta, Panama, Israel, India, and Estonia (to name a few)
When I started my site, I thought that just my immediate family would read it (if I paid them significant amounts of money . . .) I am so surprised at the worldwide extent of my readers. (Holy cow! Are you guys for real? Why do you keep coming back? Are you hoping that I will give away prizes or tell you the secrets of the universe? I just can’t believe it!)
No, seriously. Thank you, each and every one, for taking time out of your lives to spend some time on my site. I hope that at times you might get a chuckle out of what I write or an idea of a great book to read. Sometimes I hope that you will feel a moment of gratitude for the blessings in your life.
Since Thanksgiving is coming up and I like to reflect on things that I am grateful for, I want to tell all of my readers THANK YOU! Even though I don’t know you personally, I feel connected to you. Again, thanks.
