AS we all know, I am a technology junkie. And, I’ve just had my fix for the day — or rather for the moment.
I’ve been test-driving Flock which is a new browser. (I wrote this post in Flock.) I took if for a test drive a while back. I kicked its tires. Looked under the hood. Decided that it was not a serious contender for Firefox. I heart Firefox.
However, Firefox should perk up and get concerned. Another ‘someone’ is starting to come between us. Hold me tight, Firefox, or I just might flee into the arms of another browser.
Flock is coming of age to the social networking scene. Or maybe it came of age a long time ago and I am just now becoming aware of these features. Whatever.
One thing that intrigues me is that I can set up my plethora of blogs and have them in a sidebar in Flock. Then, when I am so inclined to write a post, I click on the cute little pen icon and type away. When I’m ready to publish, I can select the site I want to publish to. So much quicker than logging in, typing, and publishing, logging out and then heading over to the next blog.
This feature alone will save oodles and oodles of time. Like maybe a total of 30 seconds a day. Why, over the course of my lifetime (since I will be living until I am 103 years old), this could add up to some significant time. Maybe even a whole hour.
(A few minutes have elapsed since I finished writing the above content. I’ve been poking around this here blogging tool.)
I think I might have second thoughts about fleeing into the arms of Flock. At least as a blogging tool. It’s a pain in the Egg McMuffin to upload pictures. I have to upload the picture into Facebook. Just how many of my Facebook friends want to see the little pics that I put on my blog, I ask you? Probably zippo.
When I begrudgingly upload a picture into Facebook, tons of ugly, ugly code gets written. I hate it when the code is ugly. I like clean, pristine code. Code that is not garbage.
On top of all that, I can’t align the text to the side of the photo. Now I know, dear Reader, that you probably don’t care one whit about the alignment of text on my blogs. You’re saying, ‘Whatever,’ and rolling your eyes. Well, stop that rolling this very instant! Whether you care (or even understand) about text alignment, it is critically important to the look and feel of a page. And, I’m all about lookin’ good (. . . . well, at least what I slap on a webpage . . . and on the rare occasion, my own personal looks).
This picture issue might be a killer deal to me. Firefox, you just might have been saved from my illicit love affair with Flock.
I heart Firefox, too. Maybe it’s a good thing Flock is waiting in the wings, though, so Firefox will continually court us with goodies the others may flash in an attempt to woo us away.
