Rock On!!
I’ve wanted to get Guitar Hero since I played it over a year ago at my sister-in-law’s house. But I was too cheap. I couldn’t justify the cost.
While the songs were okay, there were lots that I didn’t know. Some I didn’t even like. Over the years, I have become an ol’ music curmudgeon. Don’t like rap songs. Don’t particularly like current pop songs — but that’s probably because I just listen to the golden oldies and not the songs of today.
Then came along the Beatles Rockband. Songs of my youth. Songs I knew. Songs I loved. Loved with a passion. This, this (this version of Rockband) was a good thing.
As luck would have it, the price was cheaper than last year. And, we found a great bargain (for once in our lives!). I willingly plunked down the dineros. Plunk, plunk, plunk. Of course we had to get a Wii so that we could play Rockband. Of course. More dineros. More plunking down. I was worried whether or not we would use it enough to get our money’s worth out of it.
But my, oh how this game speaks to my soul! I am SOOOOOO glad I waited and got the Beatle version instead of the original Guitar Hero.
We set Rockband up tonight and played it. Craig played the drums and I played the guitar. After a few songs we switched. Secretly, I didn’t want to switch. I had never been interested in drums. Even though both of our sons played the drums while growing up, somehow I was never interested in them (the drums, not my sons). But, being the good sport that I am (pat me on the back), I switched from the guitar to the drums. Oh, lawsey Jane!
How could I have ever been so misguided in my thinking about the drums? After playing a couple of songs, I refused to let Craig have a turn on them. The drums and I were one. It was like magic. I was Ringo — and had the nose and the drumming ability to prove it.
I sang as I banged out the songs: “Well, shake it up baby now, Twist and shout. Come on, come on, come. Come on baby now. Twist and shout.” The neighbor’s dog howled.
I sang at the top of my lungs: “Ooh I need your love babe, Guess you know it’s true. Hope you need my love babe, Just like I need you. Hold me, love me, hold me, love me. I ain’t got nothin’ but love babe, Eight days a week.”
The neighbors slammed open their windows. “Turn down the music!!”
I kept on. “Well, she was just 17. You know what I mean. And the way she looked was way beyond compare. So how could I dance with another (Ooh). When I saw her standing there.”
After playing for three and a half hours, we thought we’d better stop. After all, I did have to go to work tomorrow. But then, I wanted to play the guitar for one last song. Craig relinquished it to me.
I played and sang the song. I played it again. And then another time. And another. I was smoking hot on the guitar. Forty-five minutes later, I finally laid the guitar down.
If ever I need a reason to retire, it is to play the Beatles songs on Rockband all day long and into the wee hours of the night. And I was worried about getting my money’s worth in using it. Silly me! It has certainly paid for itself in the mere four hours that I played it this evening.
It’s almost midnight as I write this. The euphoric music high that I was on while playing and singing is waning. I think I might be able to go to sleep now. I’d best get some rest — so that I can play at least another four hours tomorrow night!

Oh Nina… how cool… I had no idea…
I want to rock the night away…
Do you think they will make a Led Zepplin version? If they do, I will have reason to retire!

Oh my, oh my! If Ross ever visits your house he will be in heaven. Although, this is what HIS birthday money is being saved for, so once he has his own version he may NEVER leave our house!

Connie, I’m checking out other music CDs that are available. I’ll let you know. I also want Credence Clearwater Revival music.
Andrea, I’m thinking I ought to donate to his birthday fund.
Whaddya think? Who needs to leave the house? Work and money are highly over rated. Jammin’ out with your sweetie is lots more fun!!!

I think that you might become a Wii-aholic!
It is fun to know that my parents are “hip and with it” when it comes to the gaming world. Rock on!

Yes, I am so hip (they measure 99″ around) and with it (what ever “it” is). I was voted as Miss Un Popular in my graduating class of high school.
I fear my addictive behavior is coming out. Wii-aholic, indeed! Sigh . . . Sure is fun, though, isn’t it??? You were amazing yourself as we played last night.
