I thought I was crazy and an imbecile in the kitchen because I have the very same problem with my rice cooker each and every time, despite following the advice of friends and family who make white, fluffy rice on a regular basis. And I hate all the spewing the darn thing does, leaving a starchy mess in a 5-inch perimeter around the thing. You'll have to let me know if the non-cheap rice makes a difference. Good luck!
